Databases and data retrieval
1Title: System Design for Measurement Databases - Applied to Biosignals and Vacuum MetrologyAuthor: Hermann Gross
Institute: PTBOwner: Hermann GrossAttachments: 2
Abstract:
The concept of generic data modelling is described by two examples of measurement databases. At first it is discussed for the example of a biosignal database containing biosignal records, biophysical data and clinical data from patients suffering from cardiac diseases. Then its application for the management of all calibration data in vacuum metrology is discussed.

Subtasks:
- Databases structures
- Data retrieval systems
- Documentation of software with particular emphasis on metrological characteristics
- Portability of software in order to ensure usability over different platforms
- Provision of additional information on validations, reference data sets, etc
- Criteria for assessment of risks caused by software, for instance the risk of failures, the risk of being manipulated, etc
- Definition of security requirements for data and software, and techniques to approve their compliance
